When Connie booked her portrait session with me on Hutchinson Island, she wasn’t doing it for herself—at least not entirely. She had something extraordinary in mind for her two daughters. As a surprise for them, she commissioned a custom canvas portrait storyboard—images full of love, legacy, and joy—given as a gift on the weekend of her 80th birthday.
The daughters had flown in from out of state, expecting a relaxing spa weekend along Florida’s Treasure Coast to celebrate their mom. Most likely, they arrived bearing thoughtful gifts, excited to pamper the woman who raised them. But they had no idea that Connie had planned something truly special in return—portraits of herself, made with them in mind.
As a photographer and as a daughter myself, this session touched me deeply. My own mother is 79, and I am close in age to Connie’s daughters. I know what it means to receive a portrait like this. It’s not just a photograph—it’s a reminder of who she is. Of her strength, her laughter, her spirit. It’s something you hold onto when time keeps moving and memories begin to blur. It’s a way to say: “This is me. And I love you.”

Connie is the kind of woman who radiates warmth and quiet grace. She spends her winters here in Stuart, Florida, and summers up north, savoring the best of both places. On the afternoon of our beach session, the light was soft and golden, the ocean calm, the sand warm beneath our feet. It was a simple moment—but one filled with intention. We created portraits that will last a lifetime, and beyond.
It was an honor to be part of this story—of a mother’s love, of a beautiful milestone, of a gift that matters more with every passing year.
