When everyone’s together: Extended Family Photo Session with a Stuart, Florida professional photographer

By Diane Dultmeier

Don’t miss your chance for a family portrait everyone will cherish, even if they don’t realize it yet

Imagine this: all your loved ones, from near and far, coming together in a single frame, capturing a moment in time that you will treasure today and for many years into the future. A Family Photo Session is just what you need to make this vision a reality.

When family comes to town, it's a whirlwind of activity and excitement. These occasions can be few and far between, especially if you have older or married children and grandchildren. It’s also the perfect time for a memorable session that will ensure you have your family with you all the time, on the walls of your home. (If you didn’t think of this soon enough, see this post for ideas about how to capture everyone in a grand family portrait. )

You will have the best Family Photo Session with Diane Dultmeier in Stuart, Florida

Family Photo Sessions are more than just pictures; they're experiences filled with fun, laughter, and even therapy of sorts!

It's a chance to laugh, squeeze together and get those hugs in (don't worry I'll make sure they happen). Our older kids can seem a bit distant at times, but honestly, a family portrait experience can be a form of "therapy” to remind you that the closeness is still there. When the outside expert (me) encourages closeness and fun, it turns into the real thing!

I love capturing those little moments between siblings and I love encouraging you all to be close. When they are older, it just doesn’t seem to happen as often.

I can't tell you how many of these sessions end with teenagers, young adults and married kids saying that it was the most fun they've had at a photography session. Or, dads being surprised how quickly the time flew by. And moms who are so happy to have this cherished treasure–authentic and natural portraits that she wasn’t sure would capture the love and relationships of her family.

How to get everyone on board for your Family Portrait Session

Insider tip: If it helps you to get buy-in from your crew, I fully endorse bribing them. It could be plans afterward to head to a favorite restaurant for breakfast, dinner, ice cream or even offering up cold hard cash. Kidding! Sort of.

It's important to remember that your kids may not yet understand why these portraits are important to the family, both now and decades from now. And for you to not take it personally if they don’t seem to be thrilled with the idea or even resistant. I suspect you'll even hear some whining and complaining. That would be normal. But I promise you they will rise to the occasion once they're here and I work my “magic” on them. I’ve been creating family portraits for a long time and know how to help all ages relax and have fun!

Suggestion: tell them that this is the only gift you want for the next gift-giving occasion, simply for them to participate in your family portrait. You likely don’t really need an actual gift from them, right?

And by doing this, you are giving THEM a gift. A gift they won’t appreciate until perhaps many years down the road. I’ve experienced this. Have you?

Avoid regret: schedule your Family Photography Session in Stuart, Florida

I've been doing this long enough to hear parent after parent express guilt for not having photographed their families more often over the years. Sadly, it's one of the rare things you can't do over. This time with your kids (and grandkids) will pass, but it doesn't have to be a regret for you.

Simply reach out to me to get started. Because it will be a busy time while you are together, we want to plan ahead for your session, having all the details in place before everyone is in town. This is why we have a Pre-portrait consultation, to iron out all the details like wardrobe, location and we will even talk about family dynamics and ideas that will help the session go more smoothly.

P.S. Grandparents, this is for you, too! We can create a full extended family portrait or photograph those grandbabies individually, together and with you. What a gift for them to have when they are older—a portrait with you. Because the young ones are not likely to remember these times together as well as you will.
