High school senior portraits of your son in Stuart, Florida?

Yes, we can get great portraits even if your senior is resistant

(This is written mostly for parents like me, whose sons resisted senior photos, but these ideas can help with your hesitant daughter also. 😊)

Senior portraits of your son that really capture who he is right now? It can be a challenge to get them on board sometimes!

Here are a couple of ideas to make it happen:

  1. Encourage them to express themselves by showing their interests, in this case, Zach plays the trumpet and also loves fishing.

  2. Make it an adventure–go to interesting locations around town! For Zach, we went to Hutchinson Island, a “secret” park in Stuart and Downtown Stuart.

  3. Let him pick the clothes, but bring along a couple you like–he will likely say yes when we are there together. We can play that by ear. Sometimes it helps if I’m the one to make the suggestions (because I’m not his mom).

  4. Invite a friend along so they can be goofy together! (This worked well with my youngest son Andrew; see his portraits below.)

  5. Go to breakfast (or dinner) afterwards, or give him money to do that with friends, if he thinks he just spent plenty of time with you doing the session. After this session, he and his buddy went to eat at Osceola Street Cafe.

  6. Do a family session and I’ll sneakily take extra photos of just him. (This works great!)

  7. Last resort–bribery! (I did this with my older son, LOL.)

Even if your son is making it a challenge, you don’t want to miss this milestone–after all, he really can’t argue with the reason for portraits. He’s graduating and life is going to change for all of you. This chance won’t come along again; soon you will all be on to the next stage in life.

Parents have told me how much they enjoy displaying these portraits, especially when their son no longer lives at home and significant time passes between visits. He WILL, at some point sooner or later, go on to the next adventure, whether that is now or in the future.

Zach, a 2022 senior, featured in these portraits, just graduated from the Coast Guard as a Petty Officer 3rd Class and this month his parents helped him move across the country to his duty station in Oregon! Time truly will not stand still for us!

Do you have a senior? Let’s get those portraits scheduled before it’s too late. Graduation will be here before we know it!

Please don't miss this moment.

P.S. I’m a boy mom and a sister to two brothers–I’m great with boys! All you have to do to get started is fill out the form below.

My son Andrew was the resistant one in this scenario--Zach is his buddy who made it fun!
